Current Opportunities
Apprentice Tax Adviser
We have an opportunity for an Apprentice Tax Adviser to join our expanding Tax Department. This role would be ideal for a graduate with an interest in pursuing tax as a career. Recent school leavers with strong A Level, or equivalent, qualifications may also be considered for the role.
The role will involve working under the supervision of our Tax Manager though you will also work with all staff and Partners, to become part of our team.
Initially you will learn to prepare Self Assessment tax returns, which will involve direct client contact, liaising with HM Revenue & Customs and reporting to the Tax Manager.
Support will be provided to study towards the professional qualifications of the Association of Tax Technicians. Later you may progress to studying to become a Chartered Tax Adviser.
Whilst the role is predominantly Private Client taxes, you will also learn about business and corporate taxes.
To be suitable for this role you will need to be conscientious, diligent, have strong communication skills, attention to detail, numerical skills, the ability to work independently, and also as part of a team. It would be useful to have experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
Qualifications required
Degree – there is no preference for an accounting or finance focused degree.
A Levels – three B’s, or equivalent.
GCSEs – grades 6 and above, ideally with high scores in Math’s and English.
Salary and benefits
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week). In addition to salary, the successful candidate will be entitled to pension contributions and will be given the opportunity to join our group private medical scheme. Holiday entitlement is four weeks plus Bank Holidays.
Study costs are included in the employment package and additional study leave will be provided to attend college courses provided by an approved training provider.
